Shirt #19 | Meet the maker – Luna Scalzotto

End of summer 2020 we started something amazing, the #100greenstatements project. The next two years we’ll be making 100 t-shirts a green statement. (Almost 😉 every week we are collaborating with new artists or designers who are creating, repairing, styling a t-shirts. We can’t wait to see what they’ll make. And of course, we are curious: What is their story?

This week in the spotlight is Luna Scalzotto. She is a artist who loves to be creative in many ways, a lot of them involve making a (tiny) statement on something that is preloved. We talked about making 100 green statements, and she was up for a challenge. So we’re getting curious, what she will make!

Can you tell us a little bit about you?

I’m a 21 year old Dutch artist that focusses on sustainability and upcycling in my work. I think it’s important to talk about mental health, being queer, loving yourself and also times when that’s hard.

How you started your business?

It all started quite randomly. I’ve been thinking about selling my art for years, and decided to order some prints and literally throw myself in the deep end.

From there it took a turn to sustainability and my focus shifted from prints to upcycled ceramics. I started those mainly just for fun, but they did so well and I loved making them. So much so, that those are now the main thing I sell!

What are your dreams?

To live off selling my art, buy a beautiful home with my fiance, and just be happy. That’s it really.
